![]() Patina solutions are mild acidic solutions and can cause irritation to the skin and eyes. Note: any patina finishes used on a kitchen surface or that will be handled frequently should be sealed with a nonporous sealer. In general, patinas on copper tend to be flakier, more sensitive and less durable over time (than patinas on silver or gold) even if you apply wax to stabilize and protect. Oil and wax sealants are regarded as temporary sealants and must be reapplied over time. Urethane lacquer or wax coatings improve the resistance to scratching, flaking and tarnishing. Once the patina finish is achieved it may be left to continue weathering naturally or be arrested at this point by applying oil (linseed or lemon), wax, or urethane lacquer. The longer the Verdigris Green sits on the metal (>30 days) the better the adhesion. Reapply if needed to boost the patina color. The Verdigris Green patina develops as the solution dries on the surface. ![]() In all cases allow the solution to react and dry.
